Golf Matters

23/07/2008 4:00:00 AM
July: the coldest month of the year. It reminds me of the intellect of the pioneers of the game. Who said that golf was a good week spoiled?

Last Saturday was mild when compared to earlier days in the week. A great day for the semi finals of the two ball knockout.

Dapto and Top Hand, after getting ahead by three eventually won 2/1 against Customs Alec and the Actor.

Owen and Barry O defeated Rob and Patrick Martin in the other semi final. The rest of the field also played a 2 ball knockout with the following pairs winning.

Scotty and Tex Hassall; the hyphenated Burglar from Bungendore and Bill Heard; Mick Stevenson and the Platypus; Will Robinson and 5-iron Keith; and alliterative Warren and Rowdy Eric.

The NTP was Barry Osmond and the jackpot next week will be $120.

The stableford on July 12 was won by the ever improving Paddy Martin with 39 points from Warren West on 36. The balls went to Geoff Hassall, Bryan Waddingham and Bill Heard.

Fortunately the bleak weather on Sunday arrived after the working bees and social golfers had completed their rounds.

Many thanks to the volunteers and particularly Wendy for bringing Frank and their ute. Braidwood Open this Sunday and Legacy Fundraiser on Saturday.
